Robert George Kerr Jr.

June 1, 1944 — July 1, 2015

Robert G. Kerr Jr., 71, of Bulger, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Mt. Lebanon.

He was born June 1, 1944 in McDonald, the son of the late Robert G. and Mildred (Bondy) Kerr Sr.

Mr. Kerr was a 1962 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He worked as a steel worker at Shenango Steel until the mill closed and worked as a carpenter after that. He retired from Sarris Candies in Canonsburg in 2014.

Mr. Kerr was a life member of the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, a member of S.N.P.J. #89, Midway, of McDonald V.F.W. Post #567 and of McDonald American Legion Post #485. He was an all-around handyman and enjoyed helping others and cutting grass. He could be seen every morning having breakfast with friends at Pizza Capri in McDonald as well as playing Euchre at the McDonald V.F.W.

Surviving are four sons, Terry L. (wife Susan) Kerr of McDonald, Christopher R. (wife Jennifer) Kerr of Emmett, ID, Anthony R. Kerr of Bulger and Jason P. Dhans of Midway; a step sister, Nannette Contos of Oakdale; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler and Robert Kerr, Taylor Hackney and James P. Dhans.

Deceased is a sister, Margaret Gilpin.

Arrangements are under the care of Nation Funeral Home, Inc., McDonald. Memorial contributions are suggested to McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, 150 N. McDonald St., McDonald, PA 15057.
