Richard Dean Plance

October 19, 1954 — April 26, 2017

Richard Dean Plance, 62, of Midway, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his home.

He was born October 19, 1954 in Sewickley, a son of the late Donald L. and Pauline E. (Robertson) Plance.

Mr. Plance served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at McKee Barracks in Crailsheim, West Germany with the 151st Infantry from September 1973 to September 1976. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Specialist 4th class.

He worked in construction and his hobbies were bee keeping and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his loved dog, Roxy, reading American history books, and star gazing.

Surviving are a son, Aaron Plance of Oakdale; two daughters, Theresa Plance of Pittsburgh and Rae Tournay of McDonald; five grandchildren, Angelo Graziotto, Fox Richard Plance, Tessa McDougal, Isla McDougal, and Vincent Tournay; a lifelong friend and mother of his children, Susie Reboul; four brothers, Donald and James Plance, both of Georgetown, Dave Plance of Smithtown, NY and Ken Plance of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Rose Brown of South Carolina and Dixie Tustin of Georgetown.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 12, 2017 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville under the direction of Nation Funeral Home, Inc., McDonald. Family and friends will be received immediately following the graveside service at the Oakdale Community Center. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of the family to Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 218 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, PA 15057.
