Nestor H. Gilbert, 85, of McDonald, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017.
He was born December 4, 1931, a son of the late Nestor and Gertrude (Lindley) Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Army. He also was a life member of the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a self-proprietor Barber in McDonald for many years. He loved construction work so much that he built his own barber shop from the ground up. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, looking for arrowheads and gardening.
On August 9, 1958, he married Mary Dolores Lerro, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Keith A. (wife Mary Susan) Gilbert of Arroyo Grande, CA; three grandchildren, Jessie Gilbert-Hirsch, Gina Gilbert and Brody Gilbert; and one great-grandson Caleb Hirsch.
Deceased is a brother, Joseph “Jerry’ Gilbert and a sister Shirley Gilbert.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where a Blessing Service will take place on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
