It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Nadene Elizabeth Embry. She went to her heavenly home on November 1, 2026, at the age of 99.
Nadene is survived by her daughter, Joyce Miller (Raymond) of McDonald, and twin sons Jerry Rogers, Birmingham, Alabama, and Larry Rogers (Deceased).
“Granny” was very loved by her grandchildren Eric (Krista), Brant (Chrissy), and Raegyn. Her blessings in life continued with the births and accomplishments of her great grandchildren: Alyssa (Rob), Dalton, Gavin and Brady. A recent highlight in her life was the birth of her great great grandson Jack Robert Fisher. Her desire was that these grandchildren continue her legacy of love, wisdom and faithfulness.
Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, on December 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Van and Thenia Poole and was one of eight children. All have preceded her in death.
On December 6, 1944, she married Casey L. Rogers. Casey pursued a military career and they traveled throughout the world until his death on September 26, 1971.
Nadene’s family circle expanded when she wed James Embry on February 7, 1975. Jim’s family warmly welcomed her into their fold and they became a blended family. They continued to reside in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where Jim was a retiree of the U.S. Air Force. Jim passed away on October 27, 2017.
“Granny” was a faithful member of the Cinco Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach. She was known by many and loved by all. Nadene was devoted to her faith in God and would willingly share her testimony of faith to all who would listen. She was a guiding light to many who knew her. A devoted housewife, mother and friend, her love language was cooking and serving food. She leaves behind lots of great memories, and is survived by many adoring nieces and nephews. Mother, you will be dearly missed and loved forever.
Arrangements are under the direction of Emerald Coast Funeral Home and Reception Center in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. Visitation will be held on November 14, 2026 at 10am in the Cinco Baptist Church followed by a service at 11am. Interment will be held at Beal Memorial Cemetery on Racetrack Rd in Fort Walton Beach at 12:30pm.
