Merle L. Hampson, age 92, of McDonald, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, August 17, 2026.

He was born September, 9, 1933 in McDonald; a son of the late Samuel and Margaret Parkison Hampson.

Merle was a Bricklayer for most of his working life. He was a bricklayer from 1954 to 1964; where he then worked as a Laborer for J&L Steel in Aliquippa from 1964-1984. He returned to bricklaying from 1984 to 1995 when he officially retired.

On May 19, 1956 he married, Viola J. Dempe who survives. 

Outside of working Merle was a member of the the United Steel Workers Association Local 1211. He loved raising homing pigeons training them to race far and long, woodworking, where he would make figurines out of wood for his family, gardening, especially his famous tomatoes, and watching the Steelers and Penguins on TV. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Bonnie Jo Jones and Cindy Lou (John) Longstreth; six grandchildren, Brian ( Danielle) Jones and Jason Jones, Brittany (Jacob) deVries, Ashlee (Richard) Welsh, Matthew ( Meghan)Longstreth and Kaitlyn (Matthew) Vraninin, and seven great grandchildren. Dylan Jones, Levi and Celina deVries, Clayton and Colton Welsh and Stella and Noel Vraninin.

Deceased are four brothers and four sisters, Robert, Ernest, James and infant Floyd Hampson, Goldie Brockman, Margaret "Honey" Kalucki, Ann Wolfe and infant Emily.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 11-1PM at Graff- Nation Funeral and Cremation Service LLC. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA 15057; where services will take place immediatly following visitation on Thursday at 1PM. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery.
