Mary M. Skarupa, 90, of McDonald passed away on Thursday evening July 2, 2026 in the Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

She was born on July 11, 1935 a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Gensler.

A graduate of the Crafton High School, she worked for Sealtest in Crafton, GC Murphy in McDonald and Walmart in Washington from where she retired.

She was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Her greatest joy was caring for others, whether through a warm embrace, a kind word, or something handmade. She found joy in creating personal gifts and could often be found crocheting blankets and hats, sewing, or making beautiful beadwork for those she loved. She had a quiet strength and a nurturing nature, always putting others before herself. Her family will remember her warm smile, her unwavering kindness, and the calm, comforting presence she brought into every room. She rarely raised her voice except out of concern for the safety of those she loved, a testament to the gentle soul she was. Her love, generosity, and countless handmade treasures will continue to comfort her family for generations.

Mary is survived by her three children William Skarupa, Jr. and wife Judi of Paris, PA, Diane Barley and husband Bob of McDonald and Patricia Cable and husband Jonathan of Paris, PA; grandchildren Leah Simmons and husband Ed, Jonathan Cable, Dan Barley, David Barley and wife Stevie , and Mike Durst; two great grandchildren Laina Simmons and Liam Simmons.
