Mary Beth Hampson, 79, of Bridgeville, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.
She was born August 22, 1941 in Canonsburg; the daughter of the late Walter E. “Bud” and Elizabeth W. “Mina” (Scherer) Hampson.
Mary Beth was a 1959 graduate of McDonald High School and graduated in 1963 from Indiana State Teachers College with a degree in Elementary Education. She also did some graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh.
She was an elementary school teacher for the Pittsburgh Public School District for 30 years, retiring in 1992. She also was a foster parent for Allegheny County C.Y.S. for five years.
Mary Beth was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Bridgeville, the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, the PA Association of School Retirees, the Greentree Garden Club, the Radisson Swim Club, the Golden Oldies and the Ladies Day Out.
She loved sports and was an avid Steelers fan. She also enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are several cousins.
Friends will be received at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of services on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Rev. Justin Amsler, pastor of McDonald Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to World Vision – Annaresly, Yuliana Sanchez L. Colomoncagua.
