She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of McDonald, where she was very active, holding various offices. She was a Past Matron of McDonald Eastern Star Chapter. After its closing, Marlene became a member of Martha V. Paul chapter in Washington. She enjoyed spending time at their camp in Warren County, PA.
Marlene loved watching the Pirates, Penguins, and especially the Steelers. Win or lose, she was always a fan, even attending two Super Bowls.
She was sure to tell everyone (especially her family) that she has never left "the hill" (High St.), and that every night she looks out the window at the house next door that she was born and raised in.
Her greatest love and joy was her family. She was happiest attending any activity her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.
She was blessed with three children, Gerald (Teri) Runtas Jr., Crisden (Jeff) Simpson, and Gary (Karen) Runtas; eight grandchildren, Kylie (Ren) Litman, Zachary (Sarah) Simpson, Kacey (Bailey) Fertig, Sarah (Tyler) Crossley, Rachel Runtas, Nathan (Cali) Runtas, Matthew (Allie) Runtas and Hannah (Mitchell) Kile; ten great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lainey Litman, Hannah, David, and Richie Simpson, Vinnie and Henry Fertig, Cynthia Kile, Charlie Schneider, and Londyn Winburn; special nephew, niece, and great nieces and nephew, Pat, Kim, Haley, Billy, and Emily Felton.
