Lon Allen "Lonnie" Libert, age 74 of Primrose, Mt. Pleasant Township, passed at home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 after living the last ten months having been diagnosed with a large, inoperable aortic aneurysm.

He was born May 22, 1951 in Pittsburgh; a son of John and Edith Rapacuk Libert.

Known to many as Uncle Lon, he was a lifelong resident of the Village of Primrose, outside of McDonald, PA and member of McDonald Presbyterian Church, formerly Calvary Presbyterian Church.

He graduated from Fort Cherry High School in 1969 and spent three years studying at Penn State University, State College, PA. A lifelong PSU fan, he always enjoyed watching Pitt lose.

Lon was a Fort Cherry legend and “Uncle” to many who knew him. He was a mainstay in the seats and bleachers at the school or sitting on the hill overlooking FC’s football field watching cross country and track practices. Over the years, he attended as many Fort Cherry sporting events, performing arts shows, and academic programs as possible.

Often misunderstood, Lon was extremely gifted but had challenges with social situations and interactions. Having developed hydrocephalus as a five-year-old child, he spent the better part of two years in and out of Mercy Hospital. He avoided doctors like the plague as an adult and endured a lifetime of neck and back pain from the numerous surgeries and drainage stents placed and left in his body as a child.

For much of the last 50 years, he could be seen regularly walking up and down Fort Cherry Road, collecting recyclables, trash and aluminum cans for his “retirement”.

Uncle Lon had difficulty expressing thanks and gratitude, as well as maintaining relationships. However, he was very grateful for the many people over the years that gave him a ride to or from the high school or stores in McDonald, as well as the people who gave generously to him their time, talents, and transportation.

Known as “The Man” to those dearest to him, he will be sorely missed.

Surviving are a brother Lee M. Libert; brother in-law, Chris Blanning; two nephews, John (Cat) Libert and Ben Libert; two nieces, Sarah (Karl) Blanning and Laura (Zach) Libert. eight great-nieces and nephews, Samuel, Mako, Henry, Charles, Baker, Eloise, Freyja and Ruth; four cousins, Mitzi (Mark) Shannon, Melissa (Trotter) Godfrey, Holly Rapacuk, and Diana (Dana) Onks.

Deceased are a sister, Linda Marie Blanning and a nephew, Andrew Libert Blanning.
