Ida M. Bennett, 88, of Carnegie died surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at her home in Carnegie.
She was born March 11, 1927 in McDonald, a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Virginia (Thornton) Bennett.
Ms. Bennett was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of McDonald. She was a member of the church’s Missionary Choir and various choirs of the church through her life.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and baking. But the love of her life was her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Jacqueline L. Simms of Tucson, AZ, Constance M. Bennett of Apollo, and Stephanie A. Bennett of Carnegie; two sons, Leslie A. (Darla) Bennett of Penn Hills, and Terry L. Bennett of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Alice Bennett of Washington; seven grandchildren, Christopher Bennett, Adrian Tiller, Lashonda Bennett, Tanoya (Jason) Bennett-Lemon, Ivory Bennett, Fred Simms, and Ebony Turner; and five great grandchildren, Terron, Tamiyah, Allen, Arionna, and Asean.
Deceased are two sisters, Bernice Dowdy and Irene Perkins.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 143 N. McDonald St., McDonald, with Rev, Barry Givner officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church.
