Gary A. Svihla

Gary A. Svihla, age 86, of McDonald, passed on Monday, June 15, 2026.

He was born April 4, 1940 in McDonald; a son of Abel and Agnes Petel Svihla.

Gary was a graduate of Cecil High School; He then joined the United States Marine Corps. After his service in the Marines, he worked as a laborer in construction. He then was employed for 18 years at the Fort Cherry Golf Club in the Maintenance Department where he retired in 2006.

In Gary's younger years he played Baritone and the French Horn in the Marine Corps Band. he loved weightlifting, and spending time outdoors. 

Surviving is a sister, Audrey Underwood; a brother Ronald Svihla; a cousin, Vern Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a daughter, Tammy Lee Svihla, who passed in 2004 and a niece, Brenda Underwood. 

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 10-2Pm at Graff-Nation Funeral and Cremation Service, 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA. 15057; where services will take place immediately following visitation at 2PM. Interment will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald, PA.
