Edward T. “Yake” Robson, age 70, of Sturgeon, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital after a hard-fought battle, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 3, 1955, in Pittsburgh, the son of Edward and Dorlene (Douquart) Robson in Pittsburgh, PA.
Yake was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School, Class of 1975. He went on to work in the steel industry, spending many years with J. Allen Steel in Neville Island and Universal Stainless Alloy in Bridgeville, where he later retired. Most recently, he worked for Green’s Taxi in McDonald.
A lifetime member of the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, Yake also volunteered with Rescue West Ambulance in North Fayette. He loved playing darts in several leagues, shooting pool, playing hook, working on puzzle books, and spending time at the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department’s Camp Riverview in East Hickory, PA. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors nearly as much as he enjoyed a good John Wayne movie, a quiet nap, or time spent with his dog, Maggie Mae.
Yake was a loving and devoted companion, brother, uncle, and friend. He cared deeply for his family and especially for the children. Even when his health made things difficult, he tried his absolute best to be part of their activities and lives. His effort, his heart, and the love he showed in the ways he could will always be remembered.
Yake loved with his whole heart, and he showed that love in ways that were uniquely his. He could make you laugh on your hardest day — sometimes with a joke, sometimes with a tease, and sometimes with just enough harmless mischief to brighten the moment. Beneath the laughter was a tenderness and loyalty that ran deep. He was the kind of man you could always count on, without question. His steady presence, gentle humor, and the warmth he brought to every gathering will live on in the people who loved him. Loving him was easy, and missing him will be just as lasting.
Surviving is his companion of 20 years, Gladys McGinnis; his three sisters, Nancy (Derrick Moore) Wolfe, Beverly (Russell Sr.) Lyle, and Carol (the late Scott) Albertini; six nieces and one nephew: Kelly (Tim Romanetti) Lyle, Stacy Long, Holly Wolfe, Jessica (Chad) Wehr, Ashley (John) Zilich, Nikki (Bobby) Wasik, and Russell (Nicole Barkalov) Lyle Jr.; fifteen great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great nephew.
Those who knew Yake will carry his love, his humor, and his memory with them always.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM at Graff-Nation Funeral and Cremation Service, 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, PA 15057, where a service to celebrate his life will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Hickory, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, 150 N. McDonald St., McDonald, PA 15057.
